About Bookcliff Equine
BOOKCLIFF EQUINE ASSISTED LEARNING provides a unique and effective mode of psychotherapy and wellness development called Equine Assisted Psychotherapy (EAP) and Equine Assisted Learning (EAL).
Our main goal is to empower our clients to transform their lives. We work with children, adults, couples, families and groups. We also work with corporate teams.
What Is Equine Assisted Psychotherapy/Learning?
Equine Assisted Psychotherapy (EAP) and Equine Assisted Learning (EAL) incorporate horses into the human therapeutic or learning process in a hands on, experiential environment; for the purpose of increasing mental and emotional wellness and maximizing learning. It is a collaborative process between clients and horses.
Each session is facilitated by a two person team consisting of a mental health specialist (MH) and an equine specialist (ES). During a session, clients learn about themselves and others by participating in activities with horses and then processing any feelings, patterns or behaviors.
The focus of EAP/EAL is not riding or horsemanship. All horse activities take place “on the ground.” Why? In this work, the horses are able to be themselves and not have to act a certain way, just like our clients can. This is a space to explore, be ourselves, and build relationships on equal footing.
Bookcliff Equine Assisted Learning is certified by the Equine Assisted Growth and Learning Association (EAGALA.) We adhere to the EAGALA model and ethical standards.
